Singapore Slings & Pink Punches

As mentioned in my previous post, I went out Friday evening for some food, and of course drinks, with two of my best friends and after a delicious meal we did a bar crawl of Colmore row, starting at the Bureau and ending at the Lost & Found with a pit stop at the Cosy Club on the way.

The Bureau

I’ve always wanted to try this bar as I’ve always heard good things about it. Plus my mom and dad have already been several times and it annoys me when they’ve gone to places that I haven’t. It is a stylish bar tucked away on Colmore row that is decorated with marble paneling and it also has a rooftop terrace, perfect for sipping cocktails in the sun (if it ever makes an appearance). Here, I discovered my new favourite cocktail (as my snapchat friends will know): A Singapore Sling– I hadn’t tried one before as when I see classic cocktails I tend to stick to a Cosmo (very Sex & The City) or a Pornstar Martini so this time I went for something new and I wasn’t disappointed. A refreshing and fruity cocktail that packs a punch and was made to perfection. The bar staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was chilled out and sophisticated .Safe to say that I’ll be coming back here soon. It’s a shame that it wasn’t so busy as it really is a gem of bar that more people should check out.

The Cosy Club

A lovely and cosy bar which is in an absolutely stunning building that was once a bank. It is very spacious inside and has a 1920s esque feel with the walls decorated with paintings, mirrors and stag heads. They have a wide range of drinks here whether you’re a beer, wine or a cocktail drinker like myself. I normally go for the English Garden, a refreshing gin based cocktail but this time my friend and I went for a Pink Punch. I’m not normally one for a rum based cocktail (unless I’m at Turtle Bay) but this one just sounded too tantalising to resist. There was also some easy listening Christmas music on in the background to get you into the Christmas spirit along with the huge tree by the entrance. I’ve also been here several times for lunch and there is always a good selection of food at reasonable prices.

Lost & Found

When people ask me where a nice place to go in Birmingham is for a few drinks I always say the Lost & Found without hesitation, and at only a short distance from the Cosy Club (literally across the road) this is one of my preferred places for a drink in Birmingham. Inside, the walls are decorated like a library and there is even a secret room behind one of the book shelves! With a Victorian botanical theme running through the bar, it really is a beautiful place to spend your evening and if you’ve never been then you should absolutely make the effort to go.  The cocktails never disappoint here and this time I went for their signature ‘found’ cocktail, ‘Ms H.G. Watson’, a beautiful concoction of gin, blackberry purée, apple juice, lemon juice and soda, it’s also served in a tall glass – an added bonus. A perfect way to round off the evening before heading home.
